Since the ANTICOP in 2024, we have woven networks of solidarity, communication, and coordination among peoples, organizations, and movements from different corners of the world. We have shared experiences, listened to realities and feelings, analyzed constantly changing contexts, and recognized the many ways in which peoples resist, re-exist, and defend their territories and life.
One year ago, we began the Mexico Chapter of the Mesoamerican Caravan for Climate and Life in Yaqui Territory, Sonora. We walked through Purépecha, Nahua, and Otomí territories in Michoacán; met with the resistance of peoples and organizations in Oaxaca; and received the solidarity of those struggling in Mexico City. In Tapachula, Chiapas, we shared our word with human rights organizations, and from there we began our journey through Central America, carrying our message and encountering resistance along the way, until reaching the Brazilian Amazon.
That journey confirmed that our struggles are not isolated: we face common threats and share the strength to resist and re-exist. That is why we come together again today, to turn our resistances into a collective force, from our territories and from the Global South.
That is why we are calling for this day: to demonstrate that we are still here, resisting from our territories and building global connections around everything, much or little, that we can do, but doing it together; without borders and recognizing our commonalities within our differences. Our unity therefore lies in the diversity of ideas, forms and ways of doing, thinking, feeling and speaking. For this reason, we share a fragment of our collective analysis:
Today, the world is going through a new stage of conflicts and geopolitical disputes. Wars are multiplying, borders are becoming increasingly militarized, millions of people are being displaced, and major economic and military powers are intensifying their struggle over territories, natural resources, trade routes and strategic positions.
The imperial policy of the United States, deepened with the return of Donald Trump, is articulated with new forms of militarization, racism, border closures, persecution of migrants and pressure on peoples and territories. At the same time, we are witnessing the rise and strengthening of far-right forces on a global scale, which, from governments, political parties and movements, promote discourses of hatred, nationalism, racism, xenophobia, misogyny and authoritarianism, legitimizing violence against peoples, communities, migrants, women, gender dissidents and those of us who defend human rights and life.
This political and ideological offensive unfolds alongside the growing criminalization of social and grassroots resistance, while the powers deepen their disputes. At the same time, the genocide against the Palestinian people continues, while conflicts, occupations and processes of dispossession persist in different geographies of the world: from Western Sahara, Balochistan, Kurdistan, the Congo, Sudan, the Islands and the Pacific peoples.
Meanwhile, in Mesoamerica and Abya Yala, our territories continue to be turned into corridors for commodities, industrial zones, energy, mining, tourism and infrastructure projects serving big capital. The climate and energy crises are even being used to justify new forms of extractivism and dispossession under the guise of development and false solutions.
Faced with this scenario, we do not want to see our struggles as isolated events.
We recognize that the resistance of Indigenous, peasant, Black and grassroots peoples, struggles for climate and environmental justice, the struggles of young people defending the future, feminist struggles and those of gender dissidents, as well as resistance against war, colonialism, racism, extractivism and capitalism, are all part of the same effort to defend dignity and build other possible worlds.
Therefore, from the internationalist initiative Espejos del Sur Global | Mirrors of the Global South, we are issuing this pre-call to begin meeting, organizing and coordinating toward October 12, 2026, proposing coordinated activities and actions.
We are not seeking a uniform mobilization. We want each people, organization, collective and movement to participate from its own reality, its own struggles and its own forms of organization.
To those resisting the dispossession of their territories.
To those defending rivers, seas, forests, mountains and seeds.
To those struggling in the face of the climate crisis.
To those facing wars, occupations and militarization.
To those defending Palestine and the self-determination of peoples.
To those resisting in Western Sahara, Balochistan, Kurdistan, Africa, Asia, the Pacific and Abya Yala.
To the young people who refuse to inherit a planet at war and in destruction.
To those in Mesoamerica confronting megaprojects, extractivism and dispossession.
To all the resistances and re-existences of the world.
We invite you to join, endorse, build, organize and propose actions, as well as to participate in the activities being developed from different territories and geographies, in coordination and from the diversity of our own forms of organization.
